What Does “On The Real” Mean?
“On the Real” is a hip-hop expression that means talking about reality and what is really happening in communities, everyday. But, the phrase also defines how we see the world here at OTR Media Group.
By understanding the power in our commonality, only then can we begin to get real – and share with each other in a tangible way that can be felt.
The real power in film lies in its ability to convey story through a screen. Intersecting storytelling with Hip-Hop allows us to get right down to the heart of every story.
Whether through producing a story, helping others share their story, or educating others on how to tell a story – our aim is to communicate what is real, and we do that cooler than anyone else.

As a child and practitioner of Hip-Hop Culture, I see the world through that lens. Hip-Hop deals with the reality of what’s happening on the ground in communities around the world. That also explains how I see the world, and how we see the world here at OTR Media Group.

By understanding the power in our commonality, only then can we begin to get real – and communicate with each other in an authentic way that can be truly felt.  That is why nonfiction is our weapon of choice.

Intersecting storytelling with Hip-Hop allows us to get right down to the real – whether through telling the story, helping others tell their story, or educating others on how to tell a story.  And, yes, Hip-Hop also allows us to do that in a way that is cooler than anyone else.”
